New Albany, Indiana is known for many things, including dining, shopping, and history. The city was founded in 1813, with shipbuilding playing a big part of the town’s economy. With a population of nearly 37,000, it serves as the county seat of Floyd County.
You’ll find much to enjoy in New Albany including an amazing variety of food. New Albany’s downtown is home to several walkable blocks of restaurants to enjoy an authentic, local dining experience. The city also offers a great local retail collection from antiques to art.
Looking for local history? New Albany was a stop on the Underground Railroad with the famous Town Clock Church. The city has several historic sites, including New Albany National Cemetery, which was designated by Congress in 1862 and is the burial site of many Union soldiers from the Civil War era.
